COUNSELING:

SEOP’s – Rod Campbell
The counselors would like to do things differently with junior SEOP’s. After meeting with the resource and special needs students, they will focus on the juniors in March. They will send out an email list with a link for a site where parents can type in what they want to talk to counselors about at their SEOP.  We will keep the SEOP meetings to about 15 minutes.

Sophomore SEOP’s  will be in February.

Kenley said that we are around the high 80’s or low 90’s for email addresses. Instead of sending out a bulk mailing, a caller will be sent to parents letting them know that counselors are getting ready for junior SEOP’s and please make sure their email address is up to date because they will be sending information to them by email.

A council member requested  that notification be put on the website alerting seniors of upcoming deadlines.

Teacher Conference Report – Gary Twitchell

Krista Di Lello’s Conference Report -
They discussed the new dance core curriculum and reviewed the requirements for the practice test in dance. Most                 important they talked about how the new literacy core ties to dance and what they should be doing in dance to assist         the Language Arts teachers with the new literacy core.

Stakeholders Report – Gary Twitchell
“ The Smartest Schools” What are they analyzing to come up with the ranking system?

UCASS is based on several things.
1-       Student proficiency – ranked 11th overall and 4th among traditional district schools.
2-       Graduation rate – Top 10% - highest in the district as recorded by both USOE and Deseret News
3-       Student growth rates – Fail down here
Assessing where a student is and how much growth he makes. In mathematics only 30% of our students are         even assessed. Only Algebra 1 students were assessed. We have many students in Calculus and Precalaculus that were not included in the assessment.               We are aware of where our holes are and we are making a focus on our lower achievers and making sure those students that are proficient are making growth gains also.

Areas that we are not assessed in that we do exceptionally well in are:
1-       Amount of students enrolled in AP.
2-       The students passing rate for AP.
3-       We were ranked 5th among all schools in the state of Utah for our percentage of students enrolled in AP and our percentage of students passing AP.

Blogspot – Carla will help with it.
